No one can get a court-appointed lawyer at that stage of the game – YET, the Court of Criminal Appeals does NOT even look at a Habeas Corpus appeal, IF it is done PRO-SE, it is ignored by the Court!!sitilou13https://www.blogger.com/profile/07002927260637267197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-88602406457031468492017-02-10T07:25:07.563-06:002017-02-10T07:25:07.563-06:00I would go for that deal if we make the change all...I would go for that deal if we make the change all at one time, Unknown. Indigent defense is not discretionary -- it is required by the Constitution -- and state legislators create the laws under which defendants are prosecuted, so the state should bear the cost of indigent defense.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07013603069967452028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-35694721772034674162017-02-08T08:41:56.246-06:002017-02-08T08:41:56.246-06:00Indigent defense cost is caused to some degree by ...Indigent defense cost is caused to some degree by the bail bond system we have and the refusal to change it. "Tough on crime" Judges and prosecutors recommend high bonds and by the time many citizens have paid a bondsman, all or much of the money available for hired counsel has been used up.
