As it was, D-ville was making more money off them at that time than any other city in Dallas county except Dallas itself, and, IIRC, 10x that of neighboring Cedar Hill.

At one exit off US 67 (as you may know if you're from there), people would stop behind the white stop line. But, because the intersection isn't a 90-degree angle, they would then pull up a bit to see if it was safe to make a right on red. If they didn't have immediate clearance, they'd stop again. And, if they stopped on the stop line, they got ticketed.Gadflyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13075757287807731373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-49501048938154278732013-12-23T17:17:15.755-06:002013-12-23T17:17:15.755-06:00GFLY, did any of your reporting cover the cops pul...GFLY, did any of your reporting cover the cops pulling over people that exited the highway ramps 5 miles an hour over the posted 40 miles per hour sign?

If not, there are hundreds waiting to be interviewed regarding the D-ville money making scam.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-10313456937048644192013-12-23T16:17:36.797-06:002013-12-23T16:17:36.797-06:00not sure how you figure that grits!

But the ALPR issue is newer, cleaner and its indiscriminate use less defensible than the cameras, which have been around for a while and, because they've not been integrated with facial recognition, so far are less intrusive to personal privacy. Bills in Texas can only address one topic and IMO the issues surrounding surveillance cameras and ALPRs are different enough to warrant separate legislation.

FWIW, red light cameras identify folks by their license plate numbers, not facial recognition software.Gritsforbreakfasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10152152869466958902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-76135375430712813872013-12-22T13:29:59.680-06:002013-12-22T13:29:59.680-06:00Having reported, a few years back, on Duncanville&...Having reported, a few years back, on Duncanville's massive amount of red-light camera ticketing, I'm all in favor of regulating both license plate AND facial cams to the fullest degree possible, since red-light cams often use facial cams to "prove" you and not somebody else was driving your car.

Let's also not forget that on red-light cams, cities usually privatize the whole operation to one of a few major operators in this industry. So, any legislation needs to address privacy not only vis-a-vis governments, but also versus private industry.Gadflyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13075757287807731373noreply@blogger.com
