I... have been under MSB's control for ten years. I got seven no insurence tickets back to back in my early twentys. My surcharges are so expencive I will probibly never be able to drive again. I am an appliance repair man that can't get his license back. My only crime is being young and stupid. That is no reason to take my driving priviliges for the rest of my life. I have to drive to work. This law has made a lifelong criminal out of a hard working man because I was young and dum once. These surcharges are destroying families and good men for not paying insurance companies. It is wrong and I wish someone would do something about it. I am now an indentured servant of M.S.B..Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08405958836965380575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-69042357931454716392016-04-12T17:42:54.742-05:002016-04-12T17:42:54.742-05:00At the risk of being un-pc; if you are poor you ar...At the risk of being un-pc; if you are poor you are off the hook. Why is there not-a program for your working poor who live pay check to pay check. My son is caught up in this and it is a endless cycle. As long as he works and goes to school he is eligible for no breaks. I know so many of the people he works with / friends that just take their chances. I am still able to have him on my insurance for the times that he can't get a ride to work but so many just take the change and drive with no insurance. I was recently hit by a driver that had no insurance due to surcharges and of course I took the hit on the deductible. I hope it is an election issue...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-25019268971145250192015-01-10T13:36:55.662-06:002015-01-10T13:36:55.662-06:00As a single mother, not receiving any help from my...As a single mother, not receiving any help from my child's father... (long story)...I am unable to pay the surcharges that I had no clue about until after I had my daughter...from tickets I got TWO years BEFORE I even found out I was going to be a mother. I can't even find a job because no one will hiring me with no license. Thanks Texas...I forgot if a person actually tries here we get spat on...but if we are low lifes we get a ton of government help...way to go.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-44255571394004764542014-07-11T20:07:42.636-05:002014-07-11T20:07:42.636-05:00I'd love to clear up my surcharges, but i can&...I'd love to clear up my surcharges, but i can't afford to. I made mistakes early on in life...costly mistakes that earned me a debt of over $20,000. The original debt is closer to $10,000, but ram on the interest rates i blindly signed and agreed to and there you go. This doesn't include traffic tickets, those were an additional $15,000 all before my 21st birthday. Can't stress enough how reckless i was. I printed out my tickets one day and spent days contemplating how i can get this under control. I turned myself in...spent a collective month in city jail and poof...my tickets were gone. Began making payments on my debt and then the surcgargea began pouring in. Finally, because of my inability to pay, my license was suspended. With the suspended license i couldn't get insurance, with no insurance you get pulled over. More tickets and ultimately more surcharges. I want so badly to get out of this hole, but see no relief in sight. Here i am, 26 years old and im not even allowed to drive a car, but i do so i can work. There's no end in sight is there? Im no criminal. I'm no slacker. I don't live off the government or manipulate people to get what i want. I dont sell drugs or do anything immoral for my money. Why am i not entitled to a second chance? I didn't hurt anyone. I hold no ill will toward anyone. I want to be better, and for the past 10 years of my life...i haven't had one day free from worry. Given the opportunity to work off my debt, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Given the chance....laughable. They're not willing to to help people succeed. Their only interest is to stake a claim to my hard earned money to pay for problems caused by their incompetence. The money that i earn, legally i might add, is mine. I spend 50 hours a week of my life to earn it and you shouldn't be able to take that away.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-2581893408904814052013-09-26T21:11:24.483-05:002013-09-26T21:11:24.483-05:00Amnesty!Amnesty!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-47671396102987865192013-09-25T10:40:44.542-05:002013-09-25T10:40:44.542-05:00Websters dictionary states "surcharge" a...Websters dictionary states "surcharge" as an excessive charge. this was on my water bill , after a meter was installed, I ask why? the word surcharge was removed, and a higher water rate was charged to me. I guess any one can do the "Texas way" screw you , to benefit them. fine, fine, fine, would be an intrest to fine out exactally where the surcharge went to, I,ll bet a small percentage went to what it first was stated to go far, hospital funding, what a bunch of crap. stop it. upkeep of a car is excessive any way.. c. kobusAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-17639498694731587182013-09-25T08:41:00.077-05:002013-09-25T08:41:00.077-05:00As I recall, in 2001 or so then Rep. Truitt got the surcharge going to fund hospital trauma centers under the mistaken notion that drivers of uninsured cars and other low lifes "cause" the accidents leading to the need for trauma care.<br />Repeal of the surcharges depends on alternative hospital funding that realizes that ALL car use produces the risk of road accidents. Therefore, for a stable funding source ALL road users must contribute, either through gas taxes or a cents per mile charge.Patrick Butlernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-55965866383743020612013-09-25T07:08:35.784-05:002013-09-25T07:08:35.784-05:00Lts of lipstick indeed.
