BOOM< illegal. up for grabs for the quota INS has to make. And any Us citizen in the car with you? human trafficker. WHY ARE THE DPS DEMANDING IDS AND SOCIALSECURITY NUMBERS FROM PASSENGERS?!!?!?!?!??! The people I am in communication with(legal, fyi, some relatives by marriage) are TERRIFIED at what might happen in a stop where DPS and INS are working together, because they have personal experience with INS already, and know what the MO is. Some have scanned and emailed copies of their ids and documentations to their safe contact. Others set up safety check-ins everytime they drive. (if i dont call you in a hour, come look for me) Today they use immigration as a pretext for color and economic profiling, tomorrow what will they use? anything they want, anything they want. no one is safe. google trooper roadside rapes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-53359957377190067842013-10-06T23:13:00.687-05:002013-10-06T23:13:00.687-05:00Let's not kid ourselves, these checkpoints tar...Let's not kid ourselves, these checkpoints target immigrants without papers. He was talking about drug interdiction and mentioned there were more DPS Troopers in the border counties than there were in the rest of the state combined. More cops making more traffic stops than anywhere else in the state and they are surprised there are more tickets issued? Sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy to me. I believ...Well....we only have ourselves to blame. I believe this all goes back to the "slippery slope" concept. We allow the government and police to erode our basic rights "in the name of the overall good". Sure, we were all about passing laws and ordinances to restrict and stigmatize ex felons, sex offenders and other "bad people" in the name of the "better good". This only emboldens law enforcement to take the next step....like checkpoints, internet surveillance and the "show me your papers, comrade" approach. Well America, you asked for it..you got it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8597101.post-33455956647305181402013-10-03T09:14:34.424-05:002013-10-03T09:14:34.424-05:00 Biggest indicator of how far we have corroded as... As a result the Police and Criminal Act placed strict controls on their use, requiring the certification and authorization by an officer of superintendent rank and with restrictions as to how long they may be preformed for.Paul-UKnoreply@blogger.com
