UT has a nice feature story on the brand-new Texas Center for Actual Innocence on its website. The center is designed to identify and spring innocent Texas convicts using law student labor, led by top-flight law profs. It's modeled on the original Innocence Project led by Barry Scheck at Cardozo Law School, Yeshiva University in New York City.
Last year the UT Capital Punishment clinic won two important cases at the U.S. Supreme Court restricting the state from executing mentally retarded inmates.
