Red light cameras going down everywhere

Three state legislatures last week rejected systems that give tickets to red light runners based on surveillance cameras at intersections.

• Virgina's legislative session just ended without re-authorizing red light camera systems, which were operating there in seven cities. The Virginia House voted against the cameras last month.
• The New Hampshire House last week defeated red light cameras by a 2-1 majority, and
• The Indiana House, too, defeated a bill authorizing red light cameras by an overwhelming 76-18 vote.

Texas' legislation banning tickets based on red light cameras overwhelmingly passed the House, but has not been heard yet in the Senate.
