John Wiley Price says Great Dallas Blog Ban unintentional: "I don't even know what blog means"

Alan Cohen from Pegasus News spoke to Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price about The Great Dallas Blog Ban. He added this to the comments below a reprint of a Grits item on PN:
I just talked with John Wiley Price. He doesn't know anything about any banned blogs. In fact, he sounded completely befuddled by the topic. He said he remembered a year or so ago that some restrictions were put into place because County employees were looking at pornographic sites. He also said "I don't even know what blog means."
So what of The Great Dallas Blog Ban? Unfair Park had reported that "Price is on the county’s IT steering committee, and two weeks back got his colleagues to adopt a new policy that restricts Internet access for county workers." Maybe it's really just an unintended consequence? If so, Dallas County's IT department needs to give everybody back their web access, pronto.

As far as an elected official in 2007 declaring he doesn't know what the word "blog" means - Good God! I don't know where to begin.

UPDATE: Kuff wants to know if the Blog Ban extends beyond blogspot and typepad blogs?

  1. If you looked like that, you would not know what a blog is either. He looks like he lives under an overpass on 35.

  3. I think they're all bent out of shape because of all the bandwidth being used by employees who spend allllll day on the computer. Of course, the many suffer for the sins if the few. I still think they've gone off the deep end with this.

  7. Hey! It's the "black hole is a racist term" guy. If he doesn't know WTF a black hole is how the hell could you expect him to understand blogging?

  8. Yeah same guy that thought "black hole" was a racist term.

One of these days the people of his district will wise up and not re-elect the him.

  9. Maybe he'll start thinking "blog" is some kind of racist term because it rhymes with "flog"

Because if he can't understand it, no one should be able to use it.

That's like electing someone who's never even been inside of a car to the Transportation Committee.
