I'd questioned earlier whether
Sheriffs' use of inmate labor should be audited after two Texas Sheriffs departments were found to be using trusty labor for private businesses. Then I saw the lede to an
AP story from Oklahoma, declaring:
Authorities have charged a western Oklahoma sheriff with coercing and bribing female inmates so he could use them in a sex-slave operation run out of his jail.
You can't make this stuff up. It really makes you wonder what other creative uses Sheriffs have found for inmate labor?
Well I would say "unbelievable," but it's really not. You're right - there's no way you could make this stuff up.
ReplyDelete"You can't make this stuff up" -- what are talking about. Have you
ReplyDeletenever seen Charlie's Angels?
When Elizabeth Fry (1780 - 1845) an early prison & jail reformer was able to get the Brits to house female jail inmates in a separate jail she discovered the jailer had turned it into a brothel and was making a lot of money. She was able to put a stop to that but in the process she found out that female prisoners can cause a lot of problems.
ReplyDeleteIf this foul man had been smart, he would have started his own religion to accomplish the same thing. The proceeds would be tax exempt, and he'd have people arguing for his constitutional right to amass and control women.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm ... "marriage" as "sex slavery". Is that REALLY the comparison you meant to make?
ReplyDeleteGrits
ReplyDeleteWe family lawyers say there's a reason they call marriage an "institution."
