Of the three, Mike Ware is the only one I know personally: He worked some with the Innocence Project of Texas before Watkins hired him, and lobbied on behalf of the Dallas DA for the last two sessions. But it was well known in Dallas legal circles that these were Craig Watkins' three closest advisors, so their departure can't help but impact the culture of the office. Certainly I wish them all the best of luck, not to mention their replacements.Over the course of one month, Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins is losing his three top lieutenants: First Assistant Terri Moore; Felony Trial Bureau Chief Kevin Brooks; and Special Fields Bureau Chief Michael Ware.Brooks left the office on June 3 to go become a solo practitioner in Dallas, and Moore and Ware will leave July 1 to open their own criminal-defense firm in their hometown of Fort Worth, Watkins says.Watkins hired Moore, Ware and Brooks soon after he took office in 2007. He says all three attorneys left lucrative private practices to join the DA’s office and he had four-year commitments from each of them. They all stayed after he was re-elected in 2010, and they are leaving on good terms, Watkins adds.“The good thing about all three of them is they knew this time would come. They groomed folks to take their place, and we have a wealth of talent,” Watkins says. “I hoped this day wouldn’t come, but it did. And we have to move forward.”

There HAS to be a reason or connection for all three leaving at once...
ReplyDeleteAtticus - If we're lucky, we'll find out mid-July...

Hmmmmmmm? Indeed..."a wealth of talent." I was just required to take down my blog because of the Dallas DA's office.
ReplyDeleteHuh? Tell us more, Audrey.
ReplyDeleteI won't know more until I meet with my attorney next week. I was told to get it down. NOW!
ReplyDeleteHey Audrey, The Dallas D.A. doesn't have the power to force you to close up shop. If it were that easy GFB would have been told years ago & he'd be rich. And so would about one hundred thousand or so called 'Blawgs', 'Blogs' & sites that are owned by Republicans.
ReplyDeleteDon't do it just yet. At least not until your attorney says so in writing. Make several back up copies of all Post so when you and your attorney sue the hell out of them for harassment, intimidation & whatever else he can come up with, you'll have proof that you've Posted only the truth and your opinion. The last time I checked this is America NOT China.
Done! I know I have a ton of questions for my attorney on Tuesday. Another chapter for my book....
ReplyDeleteJust maybe we know why my blog had to come down. With all the negative media, I imagine a google search would have brought people to my blog since Craig Watkins's name was mentioned several times, as well as a copy of my correspondence to him. And here it is mid July (Anon 6/14 11:59) and all these articles are surfacing...pretty good intuition Mr. Anon.
