Kitchen culture behind bars
Several female inmates from TDCJ's Mountain View unit have published a prisoner cookbook describing methods for (sometimes illegally) cooking with commissary items. Interesting.
Nothing new here. A few years ago, another "Jailhouse" recipe book was published by a former male TDC inmate. Good recipes, too ! Back in '88-'89, I served under Warden Willett at the Wynne Unit. Had some good "dayroom cooks" there.
Been there, done that. Summer sausage is pretty good with a barbeque sauce made from ketchup and grape jelly. Cook it all in a potato chip bag that's in the hotpot.
Probably locked up for beating up husband for asking for dinner!
ReplyDeleteRehab works!
