Harris county task force kaput
Pete Guither at Drug War Rant eulogizes without mourning the passing away of the hibiscus-busting Harris County Organized Crime and Narcotics, which recently closed its doors according to this article from the Baytown Sun. (See prior Grits coverage here, here, and here.)
That means the biggest county in Texas (and also Fort Bend County, itself no rural outlier) no longer receives federal Byrne grant funds to pay for a drug task force. After his egregious vetoes, Governor Perry needs to shift all that money to probation and drug treatment services.
