Earlier I wrote about a talk I gave at the conference of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty calling for more anti-death penalty bloggers to develop new, more effective, winning messages. (David Eliot wrote this response.) It's good to see Texas well-represented in the mix.
In other abolitionist news,
- The indefatiguable Doc Berman has been focusing on the economic costs of capital punishment, and Justice-to-be Alito's death penalty views.
- I thought this was an interesting piece from Mother Jones about American Catholics who oppose the death penalty as part of promoting a "culture of life."
- If you didn't see it, check out the outstanding Birmingham News series, "Choosing Life in a Death Penalty State." The newspaper's in-depth analysis came on the heels of an ACLU of Alabama public policy report released in October, "Broken Justice: The Death Penalty in Alabama."
