Grits turns six

I failed to mention (or really, until today, recall) that yesterday was the sixth anniversary of the first post on Grits for Breakfast. Since then, the blog has welcomed more than 2.6 million visitors with nearly twice as many page views. I've now surpassed 5,500 posts and there have been more than 60,000 comments during that time.

Blogging definitely isn't for everyone, but for me this has been a near-perfect medium. Thanks to everyone for reading. It's been a fun and interesting ride so far.

You give me hope that reason does still exist. Thank you for following your passion. Open discussion is the only way our republic can truly function as originally intended. Well Done, Happy 6th.

Happy Birthday!

You're just a little younger than our TDCJ time to date, and you've been a great source of info and thought provoking stuff for me the whole while. Hope you'll stick around for at least as long as we have left to do!

Boy, Grits is old. Congratulations, Scott. No small feat keeping it going all that time.

Thanks everybody, I honestly appreciate the kind words.

SHG, as you well know, blog years stretch out even longer than dog years! As blogs go, sometimes I feel downright elderly!

And to 5:33, who writes, "it seems more and more are walking this path," I'm reminded of a quote given out by Judge Cynthia Kent today at the Forensic Science Seminar from "Texas" Bix Bender:
"Just 'cause you're following a well-marked trail ... don't mean that whoever made it knew where they were goin'" :)

Truly, I'm humbled that so many folks keep visiting Grits. This blog started as an experiment and has far surpassed any expectations I ever had for it. Thanks again to everybody for reading.

Thanks for keeping it interesting. None of the rest would have happened without that.

I think it was that high priced speech you made in Lubbock several years ago that launched you to stardom.

Happy blog birthday GRITS. This blog is so awesome. I found Grits Goggling tyc several years ago. However I have learned so much about issues our state faces other than tyc issues. Sometimes I will read an article here before seeing the story in the news. About the tyc post, those things have been so entertaining and I have to admit very therapeutic. As much as things change things remain the same. I know those post require a bit more administration but it should be expected from an audience who have had any involvement with Texas’ agency for state sponsored child abuse. To have been there is to know true horror, otherwise it’s just unbelievable stories that can be discounted by the uninformed, morally deprived, or those who simply don’t care. I would have never thought a tyc emp would have ever been convicted of abusing state boys much less do any time for it. Looking forward to you reporting the abolition of this wretched agency of child abuse in my life time. And a speedy recovery to all its victims
