Our friends at the Texas Jail Project have produced a new website called "Jailhouse Stories: Voices of Pretrial Detention in Texas," featuring stories they'd gathered on:

• Poor Medical Care & Death
• Untreated Mental Illness & Suicide
• Lack of Care During Pregnancy
• Lengthy Pretrial Incarceration
• Solitary & Inhumane Conditions
• Damage to Family & Community

These stories give a window into the sorts of dramatic narratives the Jail Project gals see in their work every day, told from the perspective of jail inmates and their families. A good site, to spend some time poking around on when you have time, there's a lot there.
