DPS Colonel ousted

Another nasty black eye for Texas law enforcement: The interim top cop at the Texas Department of Public Safety, Col. Stanley Clark, resigned abruptly over allegations of sexual harassment.

It's hard to ignore how the decision to force out long-time DPS Col. Tommy Davis last year doesn't look quite as clever now as it apparently did to the Public Safety Commission last summer. Col. Davis was a little too independent for the commission's tastes, bucking some of their proposed reorganization efforts, but surely that was preferable to this embarrassment?

Allan Polunsky is senile. DPS is an "elite law enforcement agency". Hogwash! The Governors mansion burns down while the DPS trooper guarding it was playing on the internet and now it's director resigns amidst scandal (typical Texas). Rick Perry has got to go and every good-ole boy crony from top to bottom with him. Kinky is looking better and better.

Maybe the same guy that "reforemed" TYC can reform the DPS.

Maybe you last two posters can learn to spell.

The same DPS that recently mandated that sex offenders must have their place of employment posted publicly? I don't suppose the Colonel will be looking for a new job? Provided of course someone prosecutes him for sexual misconduct( fat chance there !).

Speaking of Perry, what's the deal with his boy Kimbrough? He's now Chief of Staff - why? There is a story here.

DPS doesn't mandate anything. They merely carry out the policies and laws as passed by the legislature. Blame the legislature for sex offenders having to reveal that information.

Polunsky hacked up TDC and now he is destroying DPS. This has been orchestrated by Perry because of his TDEX overreach and Col Davis not giving the Gov's office access to criminal investigative files.........Now the payback has started and DPS is circling the drain. Clark was picked by Polunsky - but you do not hear that. Next will be Perry's crony Steve McGraw. POLITICS SHOULD NOT BE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT.

"POLITICS SHOULD NOT BE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT." Amen and Amen.

The problem in Texas is not just political. It is political-patronage that allows the Governor's "hacks" to run and destroy everything they are entrusted with. Most have NO experience yet are charged with tasking that states largest organizations, i.e. Brad Livingston at TDCJ. Where is his corrections background? How about criminal justice? Nope, nada. He was a Perry budget hack who was sent to control the finances at TDCJ and then put in charge. EXCPERIENCE = A PERRY HACK!

Kimbrough is actively campaigning for the job. After all, he reformed TACADA, TYC and A&M, and is now running the Governor's office, so why not DPS?

Red and Blue lights for his Harley? Be cool with a badge on your leathers, and Colonel eagles on your shoulders! Go Jay, you're the man!

Kimbrough will have to be a Perry HACK with limited or no experience to move up.
