Medical Ecstasy?
The FDA has approved scientific tests to examine whether the street drug 'ecstasy' is useful in treating severe anxiety among terminally ill cancer patients. MDMA, known in street slang as "ecstasy," is already being tested for use treating post-traumatic stress disorder. In the meantime, scientists want to look for possible medical uses of LSD and psilocybin, the active ingredient in psychadelic mushrooms. It's a good article first published in The Washington Post.
