Lone Star Rising!

Rep. Peña must've gotten lonely as Texas' only legislator-blogger because he's started a new group blog and invited all his fellow legislators to participate. Check out Lone Star Rising, and read Rep. Peña's introduction.

A group blog for the whole Legislature? That's gotta be a first. Really cool idea.

Also, I forgot to mention the Texas Observer's new entry in the blogosphere, The Texas Legislature Observed, is up and running a few days ahead of schedule.

I'm not sure legislators listen to each other in person, not sure it will be much different online. It should make filibustering more interesting though

I think blogging was made for elected officials. Most find it incredibly frustrating that their views are always filtered through the media or else must be paid for through expensive advertising. Getting to talk directly to the public, and to say your piece without a filter, I think, most would find refreshing. And they've no shortage of opinions!

i think that's definitely true, I was just wondering what it would be like having multiple officials trying to express opposing views on the same blog...chaotic would be my guess
