Today's criminal justice committee hearings at the Lege
These two Texas House committees meet today to take up a variety of criminal justice topics. See Grits' previews of their agendas:
One additional bill of note, HB 2244 by Turner, was added to the Corrections Committee agenda after the initial posting. That bill would set into law minimum jail staffing requirements and mandate that counties pay for sufficient staffing to meet those ratios, bascially telling counties like Dallas and Harris they can't continue to operate chronically understaffed jails.
